Survivors

Welcome to the survivors page, designed for anyone who has been affected by sexual abuse at any time in their life:

Unfortunately sexual abuse is very common. Estimates suggest that as many as one in six males experience sexual abuse at some time in their life.

Most victims never tell anyone about it – sometimes because they are frightened, worried about being blamed or about what other people might say.

Boys and men tell us that it when they are abused, it can be a very confusing and frightening time for them and that it can cause a lot of problems and affect the way they think, feel and behave.

Boys also say that they often do not know who they can talk to, or where they can go for support. This can often make a person feel lonely, isolated and hopeless.

We would like you to know you are not alone, and that support is available.

About us: First Step is an organisation to help boys and men who have experienced sexual abuse at any time in their life. Our staff are specially trained to offer services and support to boys, young men and their families.

We will always listen to you, believe you and treat you with respect at all times.
